What challenges did the newly founded nation face during and after the war? Why did these challenges come into existence?


After eight years of fighting, an estimated 25,700 Americans died in the war, and 1,400 remained missing. Many soldiers who survived the army left with no money. Instead of receiving money for the war, the government gave some soldiers certificates for land in the West. Many men sold that land to get money for food and other basic needs. Both the Congress and the states had borrowed money to finance the conflict. They were in debt $27 million, which was a debt that was very difficult to pay off. Those who supported the British also suffered. Thousands of loyalists had lost their property.

The American Revolution was a radical event because it started with a small act from the British, and it turned into one of the most famous parts of our world's history. The American Revolution was very different from any other war because this was caused over the American colonists' "feelings". The colonists did not want more land or more money. The colonists just wanted their independence and to be respected by the British. The American Revolution was also a radical event because it was the division between the colonists' society. During the Revolution, the population divided between the Loyalists, who were on the British side, the Patriots, who were wanted to break away from the British government, and the neutral individuals who were not on the British side or the colonists' side.
